The Safe and Sound Protocol includes 5 hours of music that is uniquely filtered to help regulate the autonomic nervous system for people of all ages.

These unique and specific frequencies of music send cues of safety to the nervous system via the middle ear muscles and the vagus nerve, and enable the body to shift into a more regulated physiological state. The SSP functions as a non-invasive acoustic vagal nerve stimulator.

Life is better when we feel safe, centered and connected. We become less reactive and more social. We are more resilient and flexible so we don't get stuck in older patterns of fight, flight, freeze or shut down. Our health, relationships, work and learning improve.

.

This research-based protocol, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, is a practical application of his highly researched Polyvagal theory - a way of understanding how our nervous system responds to safety, stress and danger.

Education, somatic practices and listening together online are an integral part of the whole process. The schedule for listening to the 5 hours of music is determined by your individual response. The music is accessed through an app on your phone or tablet with over the ear headphones.

Benefits of the total SSP experience may include improvements in:

·  response to everyday stress
· feelings of safety and connection to others

· emotional regulation and resilience

  awareness and connection to self

· sound sensitivity, auditory processing

  focus and attention
· anxiety and trauma related challenges
· sleep and gastro-intestinal issues

The Safe and Sound Protocol, like my other treatment approaches, helps regulate the nervous system and ultimately transform our daily life experience.

“Have you ever found yourself flooded with emotions which led to an outburst when an unpredicted situation arose? Self-regulation is our ability to manage our emotions and behavior in response to these situations. The flexibility to adapt quickly to changing situations is called resilience. How you feel at any given time – your physiological state – is central to your emotional regulation, behavior, and resilience”.

The Polyvagal Theory explains the neurophysiological foundation of emotions, attachment, communication & self-regulation.
